ABOUT US

TICHAU Creative Studio (pronounced ‘TEA- HOW’) is a German name of the founder’s birth town in Poland (Tychy) represents artwork that combines technical skills, knowledge and precision with passionate and expressive free flowing colour formations and other textural effects.

There is so much beauty around us that we very rarely pay attention to. Throughout all the works, you will find a strong connection to fauna and flora and everyday objects e.g. food.

Plants are a big inspiration as they are constantly changing their colours and shapes, mesmerising the eyes as they unfold and grow, revealing more complex forms and textures (similarly to the process of artwork creation).

The fern leaf which you can find in some of the artwork, as well as the main theme in our OUCH room (tattoo room), symbolises the owner's favourite place - the forest.

In Tichau we honour imperfections, experimenting and happy accidents, as well as long planning, precision and complex art processes.

We love customising and involving you in the creative process to make the work fit your needs best possible.

Nothing here gets done in a rush and purely for the gain. Every product took a long time and many creative processes to end up as the finished piece, guaranteeing the best quality.

And most importantly, we add a lot of heart to what we do.

We would love to bring a smile on your face with our art and help to realise how much beauty there is around us everyday. Our mission is making you feel happy and cosy in your space.

Made with a lifelong love for art and nature.

Briefly about Emma Belle (Ewa Smieszek) - a lifelong creative learner, with a main focus on tattooing, painting, and illustration. She is very driven and passionate about creative processes and in Tichau she can finally pursue all of her creative dreams. In her work she tries to find balance between detailed linework and expressively painted background filled with unexpected textures. Emma hopes to show that it's not only smooth lines and line-to-line colour filling that can look well-prepared and interesting.

Bit more about Emma

Ever since she was little, her world was made up of paints and brushes. Emma spent her whole childhood taking various private art courses, taking part in many art competitions and spending every free moment in her safe creative space.

However, Emma never felt that Poland was a place for her to live, so she moved to Glasgow in 2012 as a young adult with nothing but dreams.
She always knew she wanted to be an artist for living but struggled to pick one path. Her journey of making her artistic dream began with becoming a full time tattoo artist in 2014. Since then she became an HND Art and Design Creative Printmaking graduate (2020) and Glasgow Print Studio member (where she makes her screen prints). The number of painting and illustration commissions had been gradually rising through the years and Emma came to the conclusion that she will never be able to express her other art ambitions while being an employee of a tattoo shop.

Finally, in 2021 she opened her own creative studio which mainly served as a private workspace, from 2022 also as a booking only private tattoo shop.

Emma really cherished the time, when the space had been shut to the public, but opening the doors to the wider audience and sharing what she has been working on for the last years, seems like a natural next step.

We are very excited to welcome you here. <3
